If you are trying to decipher what a particular tune is comprised of
it sometimes helps to hear it at a slower speed (with no change in
pitch of course). There are a number of softwares that can do this but
one I recently discovered and really like is called "Amazing
Slowdowner", available for Mac and PC at
It will slow down either a CD or a saved file (AIFF, mp3) in real time
by up to 400%. You can mark specific sections for looping and save the
slowed down tracks in case you want to burn them to CD or whatever.
Works great with OS X.
