I think I read somewhere that the reason DD's Capitol albums are not
yet reissued is that the man himself find them to be "crap"... which of
course they're not, they're totally great! I think Sundazed would do a
great job on these, like they for example did on the Challenger's
albums.

I'm guessin' that's accurate. Either he thinks their crap or he hasn't been
offered enough dough to make it worthwhile or both.

I believe that Dick Dale himself owns and controls the
publishing right over the majority of his catologue. Only
that wacky GNP/Crescendo "Greatest Hits 1961-1976" is
really out of his control...the "redo" tunes on that album
are owned by someone other than Dick. Same for that crappy
early vocal single "Fairest of them All"...someone else
owns the rights to that lame tune.
Since Dick owns most of his own catologue, I suspect that
the only way to get a re-issue of great albums would be to
appeal to the Man Himself.
I would love to see a re-mastered CD version of "Surfer's
Choice"...that classic gem of an album truly deserves to be
re-released. Same goes for DD's complete Capitol
releases...they would make a swell box set of CDs, don't
you think?

Well, as I recently found out, he does answer his own email. I would
encourage everyone to politely ask him about that. It might end some
speculation.
BN
Brian:
that's true...Dick does respond to email...and politeness
and respect are big with him.
who knows, maybe he'd go for it?
