The GREAT difficulty with the bootlegs is that track listings are often
WRONG!
One recent outcome of that is evident on the new Faraons (Italy) CD.
They titled the disc after track one, which they covered from Surf
Creature Vol 2 (vinyl) where the record lists the Intrepids "Golash" as
the Truants "Sunset Surf."
I try to catch those errors on my site. Check reviews before taking
anything on a bootleg to te bank. The bio info is often very
questionable as well.

Hi everybody. I think one sampler is really essential it`s "Wax `EM
Down" [The amazing hot rod cult] with artists like Frank Siantra Jr.
doin "The Beach girl and the monster" as a vocal [!) number. There`s
also Sandy Nelsons greatest track "Casbah" on it, it is just A ALL
KILLER NO FILLER Record. Other cool comps featuring awesome and
obscure Surf/instro stuff are Strummin Mental Part 1 and 2 released
via Crypt Records as Cd`s, holy cow...There is also a label called
Mr. Manicotti Records which released a couple of awesome 60s surf
stuff for example the fabulous "Waikiki Surf Battle". It is Trash but
I love it the record.
Puuhh, the list is really endless. To pick out one band I really love
are the AVENGER IV, they released an album on Dionysus some years
ago, featuring all of their hits. Dionysus is genereally a good
source for cool reissued surf stuff, to name some more great albums:
- "Wailin' in West Covina !" feat. The Hydraulic Raisins
The Rhthm Surfers,The Spetrums
- Al Garcia and The Rhythm Kings - "Exotic and Rockin' Instrumentals"
- Surf Teens - "Surfmania"
or some others...
-Pebbles Vol.4 "Summer means fun" vocal surf comp. feat. Gary Usher
The Rivieras,The Knights...
-various DelFI records [Impacts, Lively Ones....]
