answer about bass players on list/question about active bass elecs.

Jeff (bigtikidude) - 04 Nov 2002 23:18:55

-Hey Richard,
I too am a bass player. But I must say that I have an addiction for
the Reverb sound of Surf Guitar. I read the stuff on hear so 1 day
if I have some extra dough to get rid of I know what to get and how
to set it up. I have a Kramer Striker Bass(mid 80's)yeah yeah I know
Metal bass. No it's all wood, Heavy as hell, and Resonates forever.
Basically looks like a Fender P-bass but with a slightly different
headstock(round part at the end kinda staight on 1 side. Has a
single coil at the Bridge and a split in the neck spot. I like the
2 mixed all the way up. But for different song I might go bright with
the bridge or deep with the Neck. But the mix is perfect and full
sounding. Not sure on Wood for the Body, But It's painted Black. And
it has a soid Maple Neck.I think I like a solid Maple neck for a
little bit of edge to the sound, Where it seems like Rosewood
absorbs some of the brightness.
Also have a Kramer Guitar that's similar but with a Horrible
pointed head. Humbucker in the Bridge and sigle coil in the Neck(no
mid). It's also Black strat shape, with a Maple neck. I want to sell
both of them and the Mid 70's GBX (Canadian Amp) and Buy a Fender P-
Bass. But am torn on Original old school, or the New American
Percision plus. It has a double single coil type humbucker in the
bridge, and a split Humbucker in the neck. Besides a beefy Truss rod
there are also 2 Graphit reinforcement bars in the Neck. And The
Option for a 5 string(drool slobber slurp). I know it's a bit much
extra shit for trad. But I like progressive stuff to.The only down
side is it's only active electronics. I've seen other basses with
active electronics that have a on/off for the active section. How
hard would it be to put 1 on this bass.
I would also love to get a Fender Bass VI. And to compliment it and
the 5 string bass. Get a Dual Showman, and Make a cabnite with 2 10'
speakers and a 15" JBL. Are there 10" JBLs for guitar/bass??
That's just alittle of what I have and where I want to go. If I only
had the dough.
