Re: Dick Dale's Capitol albums

Klas Fjellgren (surfites_64) - 23 Jun 2005 10:14:34

I think I read somewhere that the reason DD's Capitol albums are not
yet reissued is that the man himself find them to be "crap"...

I'm guessin' Rhino, Sundazed or EMI could have released the Capitol
albums. It's a mystery to me why they haven't. Of course that
partially 'splains why few in the group can talk about the albums and
their deep tracks.

Well I think you read that on this list. A guy went to a show and
asked him about those albums and Dick said they were crap. But given a
good enough offer I bet he will release them. Why wouldn't he? He'd be
making money off something he did 40 years ago and would get his name
out there some more. Let's hope so.

Dick has been saying, "the old albums are crap, this is the one to have" with
each time he releases an album. I first heard him say it when he put out "The
Tiger is Loose". I'm not sure he really feels that way each time he says it so
much as he thinks it's the way to push the latest album. The problem is, he's
always has a latest album (latest album, not necesarily new album).
