AV Jaguar Hex/Allen Wrenches

Jacob Dobner (jacobdobner) - 20 Jun 2005 18:35:24

Does anybody know whether the AV Jaguar allen wrenches are Standard or
Metric. And does anybody know the size of the saddle wrench and the
pot knob wrench?
I got my AV today. Compared to my CIJ it is louder, the knobs are
nicer, and it sounds and plays better. Compared with my first CIJ the
AV blows it out of the water. My other CIJ, on the block inlayed
matching headstock ones it doesn't blow it out of the water and is
only a little better. I have AV Pickups in the CIJs.

The AV's use English unit wrenches. The saddles and the bridge height
adjustment screws use the 0.050 inch wrench. I've never had a need to
mess with the pot knob screws, so I don't know about that one. The
0.050 wrench fits into it, but I could not get it to either screw in
or out.

Jacob:
Just from a quick test of my AV Jag, it looks like the allen wrenches are
U.S. (Standard). I got a .050 to fit in the saddle grub screws, and a 1/16"
to fit in the pot knob. Both of them seemed to work o.k., but I can't
guarantee that they are the "correct" size.
Dave W. may know the answer to this one off the top of his head . . .

I responded to the message, but it seems to have gone *poof!* in the
ether! Here's what I wrote:

Of course, re-posting that guarantees that the e-mail will now show
up . . .

.050" is the size for the saddle screws, and 1/16"
sounds right, but I'm not absolutely sure about this.

You are correct. I picked them up last night. The saddles on an AV
jaguar are so much better than the CIJ ones. I haven't had to use my
loctite yet.
