I am currently enjoying "Twang Shebang"... at work, on my iPod. And
then... after work, in my car.... and then at the gym... then at the
grocery store.... and... :-)
Going to recommend this to all my podcast surfnut buddies.
It did take some poking around to find the downloadable link, but I
did eventually find it.

Yeah, technically a show isn't a "Podcast" if you can't put it on an Ipod
(or similar digital music player). The whole idea behind podcasting is the
ability to listen to shows "on-the-go", like radio. If a show is streaming
only, and can only be listened to while at a computer, it really shouldn't
be called a podcast.
Ideally, a podcast should be an MP3 file, which can be played on just about
any digital music player. I started a podcast a month or two ago, and
haven't had time for new shows. I promise to do more soon though and am
looking at purchasing a microphone to make the spoken portions sound better.
You can get the last two shows at
Thanks,
Sean

Agreed.
Podcasts are downloadable, not streaming, and are not the same as
stream capture. Fortunately, "Twang Shebang" is 90% of the way there.
What I *didn't* see was an RSS feed for new episodes. You really
have to do some digging to find the actual links for download of the
show, quite an inconvenience. Honestly, it's not that hard to make it
convenient for the audience to access the downloadable versions:
/05.08/0000/Twang_Shebang-21.mp3
/05.08/0000/Twang_Shebang-22.mp3
(stupid Yahoo! breaks the URL, but you can stitch the 2 lines back
together easily)
Freddie's audience would swell considerably if these minor nits were
worked out. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Twang Shebang #22!

King Coleman (myrealbroadcast) - 15 Jun 2005 07:56:05

Hello Folks, while I thank you for your input, I must let you know that page
impressions to MyReaBroadcast it vital to our survival as we are paid a few $$
here and there for advertisers banners and the promotion of other shows. If I
make these links available direct such as you have here in your email, I loose
page impressions and eventually the very few dollars we get to survive. Listener
count is actually not our problem as we have very high numbers there. We
currently have 7 times the listener count on stream versus the very new podcast.
Our podcast does infact work for ipods and any other player that works with mp3,
and while it may be difficult to locate certain things on the page, we still
ejoy over 700 downloads per week on that page alone.
For those who read the items on the page and just want to listen to the show in
mp3 format, they simply press a button called "Play Audio" which will work just
fine. I must ask that you do not post any more links to our direct downloads or
stream rip, just wanted to let you know, that your not helping us by doing
that. If you want to help increase our listener count, simply let folks have the
direct link to the page if you want put in your instructions on how to listen
easier. Another way to help ofcourse is to donate $$ , due to our very high
listener count we can barely make the payments each month on bandwidth consumed,
and we have the cheapest rate in North America.
Regards,
Dan Coleman
