The Caped Ones

Rick & Carol Selby (papoon72) - 05 Jun 2005 11:37:21

If Brian's 10000 line HOLY SHIT had been posted, it would be included here,
amended only as HOLY SHIT SANDWICH! Suffice it to say that Satan's Pilgrims
had the 300 or so folks at the Doug Fir Lounge *roaring* from the get go.
So good that I took out my Pyronauts-provided earplugs (thanx Paul!) so
that nothing would be missed. I've not been so impressed with the energy,
tightness and obvious fun that a band was having in some time; Carol, my
wife, rates it as the *best* show she's ever witnessed. Let's hope that
there's much more to come from these guys in the near future. My first time
at the Doug Fir Lounge, a very cool room with great sound and sight lines -
at least from the soundboard :) It was great meeting Brian and Shari Neal
(who I realized that I sat next to at the Surf Coasters, Pollo del Mar, Sub
Mersians show at the Brookdale Lodge last year), Dick Messick, Dan and Eric
of the Nebulas (Unfortunately missed TFJ. They must play this room or at
least this town! Please.) and Kristena Hernandez. Girl Trouble, the
openers, were a pretty fun punk pop(?) outfit - The lead singer definitely
had some Lux Interior channeling going on, although the Cramps they weren't
:) At this point, it's time for more coffee. Safe travels to all who
descended on Portland and Seattle for this special Satan's Pilgrims treat.
I'm sure others will have more coherent and detailed descriptions of last
night's awesome extravaganza.
Next up, Slacktone and PDM on the Solstice in SF. Hope to you there!
Rick
