for those knowledgable and experienced in guitar set-up (you know who
you are!)
what is the minimum action i should be able to get with a strat (15"-
ish radius i think) with 011 flatwounds, trempicking with a lot of
attack?
I checked mr gearhead, it says i should be able to set it at 3/64" -
but that is with factory strings, 010 roundwounds I think, and
for 'normal' playing.
I've got two guitars with exactly the same neck (80's squier neck),
one is set at 4/64 which i find decent enough, but the other one i
cant get below 5 to 6/64.
both have some fret damage, one more then the other, dings at the
third fret, and the one is buzzing more overall. (relief set at .010 -
no warping as far as i can tell)
those being cheap necks, I am figuring out whether i think they are
worth a fret job - would i be able to really get between 3 and 4/64 -
or would the combination of 011 flats and trempicking still need more
action?
thanks!
