follow-ups Callaham and Rotosound

Marty Tippens (mctippens) - 24 May 2005 01:58:27

Following up on a couple of SG101 recommendations:
The Rotosound strings get my thumbs up. I like the feel and sound. Oh, and 13's
are called "Greys".
On the Callaham tremelo block, for me it's strictly a vanity item. My ears after
35+ consistant years of loud drums and and amps aint good enough to descern any
significant or subtle improvement in sound or sustain from the block. But it's a
nice feeling to have the correct depth of string socket and overall correct
appearence on my RI '54 masterbuilt. It was a big error for Fender to claim
their '54 RI 50th Anniv Strat was correct to the last detail yet use a modern
trem-block made for Fender Bullet Strings. I was worried that the Callaham
might add some weight to the nice light 7lb 2oz Strat. The post office scale
showed that the Callaham weighed 0.2 oz's less than the Fender blockj. No, I'm
normally no this anal.
Anyways, thanks again to Ivan and Bruce D for hippin' me to these items.
