I know I would love to have one...lol They have a web site
hallmarkguitars.com/
if you gotta have one the Hallmark Stradette is hand-built by Master
Luthier/Designer Bill Gruggett who many of you know was involved in the
Mosrite adventure. But they have a zero fret like the mosrite and the trem
system is also very similar to the mosrite design. They def sound cool and
have plenty of mojo for the masses.

it is a fret in the place of where normally the nut is - it has a nut
right behind it, cut all the way down to the fretboard to guide the
strings. so you have fret in zero position, and a nut to keep the
strings in place. up and downsides obvious.
if you google "zero fret" in picture seeker, you get pics too - or
follow this link, if you care to copy paste a gazillion times:

Thought you might be talking about the Stunt Doubles. They rock, and those
Hallmarks
sound cool too!
There's some other bands using them as well:

Here is some info I got from Rick Mills: Volcano, 3D-Invisible, Kaos
Killer, Zombie Surfer, Hellbender, etc., etc. extraordinaire. He is
one of those rare people who actually owns an original vintage
Hallmark AND a new one. Here is what he said about his new Hallmark:
==================
Here's some info you can forward to the people on Surf Guitar 101.
Regarding my new Hallmark, I'm still in the process of getting it
tweaked or "perfecting the sweptwing" as I'm calling it. When I
originally received it there were a couple things I wanted to address.
It had thinner strings than I like, probably .009s. There was some
slight fret buzz in a couple spots near the 2nd and 3rd frets, I think
it was on the G and D strings. The G string was popping out of the
nut.The bridge pickup would cut out sometimes when I rested my hand on
it. I took it to a well respected guitar tech here in town, Mike
Koontz. He's done work on my other guitars and I've always been more
than satisfied. He adjusted the neck and leveled the frets a little.
He put a new nut on it. He set it up for .013s and put a heavier
vibrato spring in that Bob Shade (current Hallmark producer) had sent
me. He re-did some of the wiring and replaced the pots. I got it back
and it plays great! It has a real solid feel. I played it at home a
little and used it at Hellbenders practice and noticed that the bridge
pickup was still cutting out. I called Mike and he suspected that it
could be a problem internally with the pickup. I talked to Bob and he
said they'd only had a couple that were bad, but he would send me
another one. I waited a couple weeks and it hadn't shown up. I emailed
Bob and he said he had sent it about a week previous. I waited a week
more and it didn't show up, so I emailed him and he said he would send
another. That one arrived today. So, my next step is to take it to
Mike and have him put the new pickup in and cross my fingers that it
will solve the dropout problem.
So, I don't feel like I've used it enough to give a real review of it,
but what I have seen and heard is good. The construction seems good
(as I said, it feels real solid). The finish is beautiful. (I got it
in Raven Black). The hardware is solid. Tuning keys work fine. I like
the pickups. They remind me of Mosrite pickups—similar, but with
their own character. It plays and feels different than my original
Hallmark. The older pickups are a little darker, less top end. The
newer ones seem to have a lttle wider range, but still a very retro
sound.
Bob has been great about helping me work the little problems. Overall,
I like the thing. I think that when I get the bugs ironed out
it's going to be a very cool guitar.
