I am building a supercalifragilistic Jazzmaster-style guitar, but am undecided
on what pots
and capacitors to use. Standard wiring for a JM calls for 1 meg (linear) tone
and volume
pots and a .03mf tone capacitor on the lower circuit. But most single-coil
guitars (Strats)
call for 250k pots and .22mf tone capacitor.
So, my thinking is to split the difference, use 500k log tone and volume pots
and a .022mf
or .03mf cap. Would I retain most of the character of the Jazzmaster's hotter
pickups?
I am really not too into experimenting, so I wonder, does my reasoning make
sense? I am
using the AVRI Jazzmaster pickups.
