My neighbor knocked on the door the other and asked me if I would be interested
in a guitar amp. He said, "it looks kind of old, if you want it, it's yours."
I walked over his house and what do I see?
A Fender Twin Reverb.
After my jaw hit the floor, I said ah, yeah, I'll take it home and try it out.
Thanks man.
I plugged in my strat and had to pinch myself. Sweet sweet tone.
I'm trying to figure out what year it is. I went to Fender.com, but did'nt see
the same numbers that are stamped on the back of the amp. The numbers are
A881391, and then below that it there's T-2 in black ink.
I'm guessing it's a 1970. Not really sure. Does anybody know?
This amp came right on time considering my twin got ripped off out of my car a
few weeks ago.
I'm stoked.

I think you can date it with info at:

hey,
your best bet is using the tranny numbers, the 606 - xxx, i think
it's on ampwares or else just google 'fender amp dating'. I find it's
the easiest and quickest way, but maybe i just don't know enough
about amps. of course this is provided it has original trannies.
congrats on the amp - you might want to consider buying your
neighbour dinner. if it has JBL's - include desert!

That's fantastic, Billy! According to ,
it's a '78. I had a '78 and recall that it had master volume and the most
wattage of any twin at 135W rms.

You nailed it Marty. It's the silverface. It has the master volume on the far
right, (which my re-issue didn't have), and it looks like the original Fender
speakers. The foot switch is wrapped in plastic, sittin' in the back, almost
like the guy never used it. A little contact spray behind the knobs and I'm good
to go.

Dude:
Your neighbor wouldn't happen to have a drum set lying around, would
he? Say a 1960 to 1967 Gretsch (Round Badge) with several K. (made
in Turkey) Zildjians cymbals, say a 22" ride, two 18" crashes and a
pair of 14" Hats?
I know, I know its Surf Guitar 101 not surf drums 101 but I had to
take a shot.

It also has a couple of pull knobs. One of the channel volumes pulls for bright
and the master volume pulls for overdrive.
