SEARCHERS (& MERSEYBEATS)

Unsteady Freddie (schizofredric) - 06 May 2005 09:27:51

folks:
Unsteady Freddie is flippin' out !!
I just got the 'permission' from Frank Allen (and John McNally) of
THE SEARCHERS to play their music on "TWANG SHEBANG" for the limited
purpose of using it when I run the interview we did together in
Dartford (outside of London) in March 2005
THE SEARCHERS? One of the founding bands of modern pop music? Me?
Un-be-lieve-able!!
So as I plan that show, which will also include an interview with
Liverpool's THE MERSEYBEATS and their music, the thought occured to
me (yeah sometimes the brain cells kick in):
but what about the rest of that show?
{cartoon light bulb hovering over my head - visualize it?}
I got it!
I will add other instro music from the show that is of a "pop
nature"!!
So, if any surf artists want me to feature one of their 'original'
songs for this "Special Edition" of "Twang Shebang", then send me an
mp3 ASAP (or more than 1 - but one song per email please) to this
email address:
For instantce, there's New Englands "The Undertows" who have been
described at "Beatles meets Ventures" - that's a perfect fit!
I was going to do this for Edition #21 (#20 is running now), so I
will put this off for #22; #23 will be a Davie Allan & The
Arrows "Special Edition"
THE SEARCHERS -- who brought us their unique jangling/twang sound
are a perfect fit for "Twang Shebang". And yeah, Oh my God, they
sing! Hope that doesn't turn off surf trad purists? But I think
it'll be a great show, and an interesting mix of music. Will blend
harmoniously.
So please, if this interests you and you want to get involved....I
need your help!
Most grateful and excited beyond belief,
Unsteady Freddie
