Rockin' 50's Fest Photos

Brian Neal (xarxas) - 05 May 2005 17:49:18

Kirk Schutte, the Venture's webmaster and super nice guy posted this
on Cowabunga. Check it out. It dovetail's nicely with our Link Wray
discussion.
"I have uploaded a bunch of video to my site from the Rockin' 50's Fest,
which took place this April in Green Bay, WI. I've got Link Wray,
Jerry Lee Lewis, Wanda Jackson, and a bunch of other artists,
including Los
Straitjackets with Big Sandy, Eddy "The Chief" Clearwater, and the
Pontani Sisters. These are big files, so I recommend high-speed DSL.
The address is: . Enjoy."

Ouch....the Rawhide clip is almost unwatchable because Link is feeding
back so damn much...it's painful on the ears.
I have to say it is very cool seeing him play, but he is pretty
repetitive and awful sloppy...at least on Rawhide, I haven't made it
through the others yet.

The Comets videos are my fav in the batch. Franny Beecher at '83 kicks
everyone's rear end. Yeah, that Rawhide is rough.

Anyone familiar with an error "the following pins failed to find a
connectable filter: Audio switcher: out." In all my years of playing
video clips, I've never gotten this error and I can't hear audio for
any of these. Did a Google search and only thing I found was some
other guy having the same problem, but no replies to his question

I don't know if I've seen that particular error. I was able to play the videos
by first saving them to my hard drive (right click->save target as...) and then
playing them back on the latest Windows Media Player. If you are using Windows,
make sure to update the Media Player.

Hmmmm. Oddly enough, they started working with Media Player 10...and
I didn't update anything!

WOW.....Frannie Beecher sure shows you how jazz, country and r'nb in the same
pot made rock 'n roll guitar. Surf guitarists have to dig him big time...his
tone is clean, he picks fast, and is very melodic. And he's 83? Too much!!

Frannie played with the Benny Goodman band prior to the Comets. I saw him and
the Comets play last month and he totally blew my hair.
