-Hey Zero(dorian),
I'm no expert on guitar set up stuff like that. But I would tend
to think it would be very scarry to try to put that heavy of strings
on Jaguar. Dick has an old Strat(better for tension and Heavy abuse).
Jazzmasters and Jaguars while sound nice for surf seem to be alittle
bit more delicate side than a Strat. Plus he has his Tremelo system
totally tightend down for no movement. Gives better sustain with the
back of the Bridge mashed into the Body, and he does all his note
bending with his fingers. I could never figure out why he didn't just
get a strat with no tremelo unit, just a bridge unit screwed to the
body. I would think that it would be even better for sutain having
no cavity in the body, and No tremelo unit to soak up energy.
But whatever works for him I guess. Saw him again on fri. Blew the
hell out of my ears, that fucker rips it up. Not really surf anymore.
But like to see him when other surf bands play with him. Opening
bands were Torquays, and Insect Surfers. Both had really great sets.
Sorry I got off the subject, but thats the way I am.
stick with your set up, that's what most surf guys I know are using.
By the way Dick uses "Blue Steel" Dean Markleys/Real brite sounding.
But hard on the hands,no flatwounds.
