Re: [SurfGuitar101] Re: 666 members phono cartridges

Here in Phoenix I get some reasonably priced
cartridges made by Audio-Technica at Fry's
Electronics. Last time I looked they had three models
at three different prices starting at around $19. I
can't find just the needles, though, but that's not a
bad price. Don't know if you have Fry's in Chicago.

I strongly recommend the Shure M97xE which Amazon sells for $59.99.
Here's why...
There's a little device on the end they call a stabilizer. It is
essentially a record brush. It has very fine hairs/bristles. It will
keep your precious vinyl perfectly clean. I mean immaculate! Well
worth the 59 bucks.

The one thing I find positive about the upsurge of "party & house dj's" is that
this little industry has caused an on-going continual demand for turntables and
related gear. Without this, no doubt the manufacturers would have stopped
making such items strictly for residential users.
I've checked around and cartridges/needles are relatively easy to find at any
outlet catering to dj's. Among them:
Music123, Musician's Friend, Guitar Center, Sam Ash Music. All these retailers
carry a variety of cartridges that are compatible with different systems, from
$29.99 up to about $129.00. Brand names of cartridges featured include Numark,
Stanton and Shure, which oughta cover most any need.
Long live vinyl!!

Shack.
