Sound Reinforcement?

stratrhythm - 20 Apr 2005 19:27:12

I came away from Saturday's Benefit wondering why so much sound
reinforcement was used? After all...
1) There ain't NOTHING vintage about sound reinforcement.
2) Everybody seems to be using Showman tops and bottoms for goodness
sakes, you don't even need a PA except to anounce the songs!
3) The Hard Rock wasn't very big, nor are most of the places I've
been to to see surf show since I've moved to So Cal.
(Not to say that whoever was doing the sound Saturday wasn't doing a
fine job, he was! That's not the point.
But...
a) a chain's only as strong as it's weakest link.
b) even good mic's and speakers have VERY high distortion levels.
c) you guys spend a LOT of time and $ getting your tone JUST RIGHT!
So why mic stuff when you don't have to?
Dave
