Mermaid Love is a spectacular song and probably my
favorite surf/garage vocal number of all time.
Re: The Blue Stingrays--I bought this album from the
insert of an Epitaph records punk rock comp I bought
in highschool (Punk-O-Rama 2 I think). At the time I
knew nothing of any kind of current surf or rockabilly
and listened only to punk rock with my 1st wave surf
albums tucked away but not forgotten. I flipped when
I got this because I thought it was just so friggin'
cool that there was a surf band in the '90's. The
inside cover with the Fenders (didn't play and didn't
have a clue what they were at the time) and the
Premiers made me want to go to my Grandma's house and
fish out my dad's old erector set and clothes. I
always dreamed that Brett Gurewitz would make
"Epitone" a permanent fixture and put out more surf
bands.
I've recently acquired:
The Treblemakers vs. The Doomsday Device - cool
Satan's Pilgrims - Soul Pilgrim and Plymouth Rock
(haven't gotten to listen to Plymouth Rock yet)
Tiki Tiki Bambooz - What's your secret spot? (Thanks
Bill! If I ever write any ransom notes I'm signing
your name to them.)
Two new Link Wray releases - cool, haven't listened to
all of it yet.
There's more but I've bought so much recently I don't
remember.

yep, right ! don`t forget MAX Q and UNIVERSE CITY, they are also too
cool. About the Blue Stingrays album I just can say that it is a
little bit tooo slow sometimes but when I`m in the mood I love to
listen to that hashrocksurfguitars...the version of goldfinger is
also cool, very, very, s l o w, nothing to go wild to, but the
right kind of music for an sunday tea/beer hour.
