Dusty Watson Ripped Off...

Brian Neal (xarxas) - 14 Apr 2005 07:38:50

From Dusty from the Slacktone list; maybe someone can help him out:
--------------------------
I recently returned home for a couple of week break in tour schedules to
find my storage garage in Riverside was broken into (3 locks sawed off!) and
some of my stuff was stolen. I don't know exactly when this happened but
within the last couple of weeks I imagine. I know it's a longshot but if
anyone hears of some sixties snare drums being dumped please let me know.
Thanks,
Dusty Watson
Here is a list of some of the stuff that is missing. A bunch of hardware and
other stuff gone too, but mostly interested in the snare drums.
65 rogers 5x14 wood snare blue/white
67 rogers 5x14 chrome plated brass dynosonic snare
68 gretsch 5x14 mahogany finish wood snare
67 slingerland 5x14 blue sparkle wood snare
98 pork pie 6x13 natural wood snare
84 ludwig 7.5x14 collisium 10 lug snare black
68 ludwig 5x14 chrome snare
64 14x20 ludwig blue sparkle bass drum
most of the fiber cases had 'dusty watson' painted on them.
------------------------------
This Totally sucks!

That is a terrible loss for Dusty. I have a friend who had a valuable record
collection stolen from a storage facility. The good news is that the storage
facility had decent video surveillance and the thief was found to be a recent
facility customer and a known drug addict to the cops. The thief was caught but
only half of the records were recovered.

Yeah, thieves are filthy. I'd be gutted and pissed to
the point of blind rage if anybody stole my gear and
nothing that I've got is particularly valuable or
difficult to replace. I wonder if the person that did
it knew what he was getting into. If it was just
Dusty's unit that got robbed and nobody else' then
it's possible that it's another patron or employee of
the storage facility who saw the goodies beforehand
and knew it would be worth his while.

I've lost 3 guitars, between 2 different break-ins, 2 years apart.
From one trailer I was renting, somebody stole my Epiphone Texan and
Kamen-Montana 12-string (along with my TV, VCR and several limited
edition Fossil watches). From another trailer (at the same park), 2
years later, someone stole my Synsonics portable electric guitar and
10W portable amp (along with my cordless phone, a boombox and several
VHS movies). In the case of the second trailer break-in, I'm guessing
the thief was either too stupid to know a RADIO SHACK amp would only
bring a couple of bucks at a pawn shop, or was THAT hard up for the
couple of bucks for drugs.
Of the first trailer break-in, I heard from my neighbor to the 2nd
trailer I lived in at the same park, that it was possibly my only
neighbor to the 1st trailer I lived in that got my stuff. My 2nd
neighbor also said that this guy had hit others in the park, for the
drug money, and that a couple of months after I'd moved out, a mob of
park residents got together, busted right into the guy's trailer and
beat the *&#@ out of him. In my case, I wish death on people stealing
from me. Might be a bit extreme, that, but if they're stealing to buy
drugs, then it'd be no big loss to anybody if they got shot to death
in a drug deal gone bad.
Sorry for that bit of a rant...I can't help it...I miss my Texan!
Especially when even the latest Elitist Series, which I couldn't
afford, has just gone out of production. :(
