Ivan,
PJ & Artie/PJ & the Galaxies are sporting a cool cardigan/grey slacks
combo on the cover of Rare Surf Vol. 1. I don't think anyone wore
white jeans in the 60s bands, but for some reason I'm forced to hunt
some down, since I got rid of mine 5 years ago.

Ted is right!! Our bassist actually found a cardigan simliar to the
ones PJ and the Galaxies had. With the stripes, no resale shop
unturned in Chicago, we've had fights with old men in canes over these
things, and our closets look like Mr. Rogers now.
When we started this band we though about getting white pants, never
even thought of jeans. But the ones we had were pretty see through
and took away from the idea of a "hetro-sexual" surf band.

Actually, Ted, it's funny you bring up this cover, cause that's the
exact one I had in mind when trying to think of bands that played out
with cardigans. The Belairs also sported a similar look in their
final days with Eddie Bertrand on lead guitar. But I was trying to
say simply that this was definitely an exception rather than the rule.
Interestingly enough, I took that very CD with me to the most recent
band practice just for that cover! It wasn't about the cardigans,
though, but rather about the tortoiseshell pickguards on the guitars,
as we're thinking about doing the same thing (matching tortoiseshell
pipickguards on our various-colored Fenders), just to give some sort
of a continuity.

PS Bill, notice which guitars those guys are playing on that
cover... ;)

Yeah, poor choice on their part! Wasn't Eddie ripping it up on his
JAGUAR at this time! :) I kid!
I did notice those cool guards on the Strats tho. Great picture.
Does anyone have a copy of the one with Eddie and Paul in the late
days of the Belairs where Eddie has a white Jaguar and Paul has a SB
Jaguar?

I think it's a very cool to have matching guitars.
Mach IV frontline Fenders (Jazz, Jag, Precision) were
all sunburst with tortoise shell pickguards.

I would love to have matching guitars. Especially since we have
matching suits. Right now I have a candy apple Jag and the other
guitarist has a candy apple Strat and Jazzmaster. We hope our bassist
can find a candy apple Jazz bass. I really like it when the Nebulas
have their matching guitars. I think their white guitars look better
than the Lake Placid ones.
