STRATS & JAGS was Re: Viva California-Ivan

mono_tones_1 - 12 Apr 2005 04:10:40

LOL about this thread
fwiw, I am a huge fan of the strat, sound and lookswise. and most
importantly, it fits me, size, feel of the neck, weight and weight
distribution, it's just feels in my hands like and old pair of levis
around my ass.
Qua sound it is the most versatile, and there's a ton of affordable
replacement pups on the market.
I love the wide coil sound of jazzmasters and and mosrites. those are
great guitars. Jaguars, i have to admit, i do not like at all.
granted, great players play 'em and i don't want to put those down in
any way, but as far as the guitar itself is concerned:
- personally, i cant handle short scale at all, feels stupid to me.
Even more surpising to me is why anyone would choose the short
version of a fallic symbol - think about it.
- all that chrome and knobs, what is that all about, way to much
rappers' bling bling, what are you, MC Longboard having a go at "walk
don't run DMC"? my 50ct ;-)
- they sound either to thin' or to 'zingy' tele/lipstick pup like.
Definitly not a lead instrument to my taste. they only jag tone I
have heard that I liked is in fact Neb Dano's, -thinnish if not thin -
not cause i liked the tone but because it complements the band's
sound perfectly.
All this in good fun of course. But seriously, I have seen surf bands
play SGs, paulies and Ibanez shred machines, so what are we talking
about anyway?

Thank you. You really should have pointed out Kurt Cobain as the best
player of the Jag because he is an amazing guitarist. I believe he is
often ranked in the top 20 on any best guitar player list.

My Jag has rhinestones all over it to simulate diamonds. There is a
new show on MTV called Pimp My Jag where they take somebodies
