Re: Untamed Youth on TV

Klas Fjellgren (surfites_64) - 07 Apr 2005 12:57:31

Bill, I only have it on VHS and I would have made you a copy if I had a
DVD burner. However, I might get a burner soon as my current computer
is now very old and can give up any day.
I think the show was broadcasted in the L.A. area during the early
90's. Domenic put together a special Surf edition tape culled from the
various episodes and sent us (Daytonas) a copy. Other acts included are
the Pyramids, Dick Dale, Ventures, Hondells, Beach Boys, Gary Usher and
the Boardwalkers among others. The show is very cool with go-go girls
and a dancing studio audience sporting 60's style looks. The Untamed
Youth are present in two different episodes and I think they do about 6
songs in total.

wow, that sounds awesome!! Klas, if you're sharing in the future,
I'd love a copy.
What has happened to Domenic Priore? I haven't heard anything about
him in a couple of years now. I think he was behind all sorts of
cool bootleg comp LPs of VERY rare sixties surf music (I think he
did the Surfer's Mood series, didn't he?). I remember that he even
used to participate on Cowabunga back in the nineties. This guy
knows his sixties surf, and it was always cool to read his posts -
or his articles and liner notes, for that matter. The only problem
is that he was very closed-minded and rigid, and though I agreed on
most things with him, I think he would go too far on occasion...
Just wonderin' if you know...

Man, I'd love a copy of that tape too!
Domenic can be found rulin' the roost on the BOMP! list. He's about to
have a book published about the recording and performance of Brian
Wilson's SMILE (2004). This is fitting since he wrote the first book
devoted to the original version.

Ivan, I'll make you a copy too although it could take some time as I
won't buy a new PC until this one crashes.
As for Domenic, I don't know what he's doing these days but we
recently asked him if he would like to write the liner notes for the
Surfites eventual debut album and he agreed! And yes, he was behind
the great "Surfer's Mood" comps but he also did cool stuff with
current bands like the "Bikini World" comp.

list members?

I guess my computer plays DVDs, but doesn't burn them. Piece of
shit. My drummer can, but I he's so busy, he hasn't even done ones
I've asked him too. It would be cool to see some Untamed Youth
footage. If I speak with Deke tomorrow, maybe he'll say something.
Anyway, Chris if you're out there, I haven't forgotten the DVD you
burned me, remember I was going to make a copy of a DVD for you?
Could I remedy that by just sending you a copy of our album?
