The Turbo AC's - any surf content ?

Rodney Fraser (windmillsg2000) - 02 Apr 2005 18:27:17

I have heard of this band before, probably through Richards posts, and the idea of
the trashy garage- punk-fuzz- surf appeals to me.
Do they actually do any surf type songs and are they worth further investigation
?
Are there any other bands which may fit this criteria who aren't usually
mentioned on this list ?
Also do the Surf Punks actually qualify as a surf band ?
Any other opinions are welcome.

They do a few surf covers - Apache (it was their
version of that song that turned me onto all the
others) and Enter The Dragon are the two that come to
mind. Mostly they're a hot-rodded punk band and I
like them a lot. Kevin, the guitarist, plays Les
Pauls through Marshall stacks with a Fender Reverb
reissue in the chain. His live tone was very
ice-picky when I saw them. His lead playing can be
surfy but aside from that the occasional homage they
aren't a surf band.
