The Glaciers!

Klas Fjellgren (surfites_64) - 27 Mar 2005 04:28:57

I recently got the Glaciers' great mid 60's album "From Sea To Ski".
Yesterday I came across a website that had all the album tracks posted,
so if anyone is interested, check them out. Great stuff that combines
reverb, fuzz and tremolo guitar and I think the Glaciers are a great
example of the cool type of studio groups that existed in the 60's.
Favorites of mine include "Holiday Hill", "Slalom" and "Blue Ridge".
Some of the songs were written by Lee Hazlewood and earlier also
recorded by Al Casey on the "Surfin' Hootenanny" album. Here they have
different titles though.

Hey Klas, I went and checked out that album, I think old stuff like
that is cool, but it never gets rereleased on cd. I did a search on
amazon and found a glaciers album but it was called glaciers come,
glaciers go and it was a dobro-steel guitar world music album. I
recently found a single from a band called Gene Grey and The
Stingrays. It sounds old but doesn't have a date on it. Paul

Yeah, not much of this kind of stuff gets rereleased on CD but as I
gladly also buy vinyl it's not a problem for me as long as the record
isn't too expensive. I won the Glaciers album on eBay for around $30
+ shipping. Also these cool looking album covers really benefits of
the full size LP format.
