Welcome to Ted!

ipongrac - 18 Mar 2005 22:57:27

Hello Ted! So great to see you (so to speak) here! This is Ivan
Pongracic, formerly of the Space Cossacks. It's fantastic to see all
this renewed activity from the Pilgrims. You seem to be quite
unaware of the influence that your band has had in the surf circles.
Maybe hanging around this group will set you straight. Two quick
examples, off the top of my head: the Nebulas from Boston, one of
the best new bands of the last three or four years, always sing your
praises and single you out as their biggest influence; also, there's
a surf band from Denmark called El Ray, who got their band name from
your song (and actually cover it on their second album, and do a damn
fine job), who very much sound like SP. In fact, I would say of all
the '90s surf bands, it's likely that the Pilgrims have become the
most influential. Congratulations!
(I'm diggin' the hell out of "Plymouth Rock", too.)
I'm off to Turks and Caicos Islands in the morning for a week-long
vacation, armed with a stack of surf CDs (among them Plymouth Rock,
of course) and a guitar (and an irate wife :). So, I hope you all
have a great time for the next week, and I'll try to catch up with
everything when I get back.
Ivan

Hey Ivan!
Have a great time. Glad to see you're still active too. We should
book some nursing home gigs together. Talk to you when you get back.

I've bought compilations in the past just because they had a Satan's
Pilgrims tune on it!

I agreee!!! I saw SP at the now defunct, Elvis Room, in Portsmouth, NH
in 97 or 96 ( I forgot exactly which year). They made an indelible
impression and I bought their CD then and there, which I still own and
cherish. It is nice to know they are still around. They were such
great guys too, if I my memory serves me.

Same here! I remember coming across 'Swingin' Creepers' in a store
when it came out and I skipped right past it because I didn't have
much of an interest in the Ventures. But a week or two later I was in
the same store again, and as I hadn't bought anything for a while, I
decided with mild disinterest to pick it up and take a look at it.
When I saw the bands listed on the back, my heart nearly exploded!
Huntington Cads, Space Cossacks, Fathoms, and of course, Satan's
Pilgrims...holy shit!!!! With trembling hands I ran to the register
and thanked god it was still available.
Also, Satan's Pilgrims and the Cads are the two main reasons I started
to buy vinyl again, just to get stuff not on CD.

PS on the lookout for cheap airfare to Seattle in early June...
