Big thanks from Satan's Pilgrims

spskins - 17 Mar 2005 21:23:22

On behalf of the band, thanks to all 101ers and their support. We get
a lot more positive notes here compared to some other unnamed lists.
To see that some of you may actually travel to see us play in Portland
and Seattle in June totally blows us away. It will be a blast, and to
clarify, we'll be playing with the always-entertaining Girl Trouble
both nights. Unfortunately, we won't be making it to Indianapolis as
reported-was that a joke? I wish we were able to do more shows in more
cities, but, well, life sucks sometimes. But, we had a great time
recording the four new tunes on our latest release with the return of
Bobby Pilgrim on third guitar, so keep your ears out for more
recordings. Now that we know how to write and rehearse long distance,
maybe we can pull off a full length for next year.
Anyway, I've never joined any of these things before, but a friend
emailed links to some of the chatter about us and it behooved me to
get on here and say thanks, not just for the recent attention, but to
you long-time friends and listeners.
See you in June!

HOLY FREAKING CRAP!!!!!!
Welcome Ted!!! You don't know how happy your post just made me.
I was earlier watching the quicktime clip on Plymouth Rock tonight for
only the second time....it really sealed the deal for me. I must see
you guys play live!!! I will definitely attempt to be there at both shows.
Watching the old folks in the audience groove on that TV show was a
riot!!!
It is really great news that there may be more music coming from SP's
in the future. Are all of you guys co-located in the same town again
or living apart? Thank god for the internet and remote collaborations.
Well I can't add any more exclamation points to this post without
becoming more dorkier than I am. Again...welcome to the list...you
guys are one of my favorite bands of all time!!!! <----

Uh . . . I think that's an understatement, Brian!
Wow! Thanks for the message, Ted! I live in Massachusetts, but am wildly
scheming to make one (or both) shows! I mean, geez, it's Satan's Pilgrims
for cryin' out loud! (have I exceeded the dork quotient for exclamation
points yet?)
One of my favorite bands of all time? Hell, yeah! Satan's Pilgrims Rule?
No question there. Now, if I can just make the shows :)
Thanks for stopping by, Ted!!!

-Ted,
I saw the SP's play at the Huntington Beach Surfing Museum,(2 sets)
then later that night at Club Mesa with the Bomboras.
Then a year later at Club Mesa with the Bomboras and the Dynotones.
It was an important enough of a show that John Blair of Jon and the
Nightriders was there. And he don't come out for many shows.
Please tell the other Pilgrims if there is any possible way that
you guys do a small tour down the coast. That It would be most
appreciated by many fans in So. Cal.
by the way Clint Beachwood(San Diego-surf dj) was playing a track
off the 2nd disc,today.

Let me join you on that one, Brian! One million exclamation marks!
We will be smiling from ear to ear while getting posts from Ted Pilgrim!
Ted,
As you know, you are a favorite to many of us on the list. I listen to
SP regularly. I'm just sorry I missed my chance to see you the first
time around. I shouldn't take things for granted! haha
I have looked into airfare for the Portland show, but it will be really
hard to handle this, especially having kids. But this is a priority for
me. I hope to make it there!

Unfortunately, going out to Portland for the week to play the two
shows kills all of my time off for the rest of '05. We also thought
these shows would be much more of a local curiosity and didn't
realize we were so well remembered in 2005. To answer other
questions, I live about 2000 miles away from the other guys (I'm the
bad guy). I told them to continue without me and find a new drummer,
but apparently they needed to cancentrate on other things as well.
As far as our present situation goes, we're happy to be writing and
recording again, and now that we've done a little and it didn't suck
too bad, we can plan on more as long as someone out there wants to
release stuff by a band that can't tour to support them. I can't tell
what our future will hold, but were just taking things as they come
and trying to do wahtever we're able to do.
Thanks again, and remember to check out
for updates.

Ted,
Maybe 8-9 years back, I was on a big sweep of every ski resort in the West for a
now-
defunct website. I got to Hailey, Idaho, right around Christmas and saw SP's
were playing
at Bruce Willis' place. So, I paid the outrageous price (like $20 at the door),
knowing most
of it would go to the house and not your band. Sigh.
Your band was awesome! It is what inspired me to buy a guitar and start learning
to play
surf. Bruce Willis, however, did not inspire me to learn harmonica. I wrote a
stellar review
of the band on the site.
Just thought you might like to know...

I'm definately very excited for these shows. My brother gave me a tape
with one side Reverend Horton Heat and one side Satan's Pilgrims (At home
with) and that was the first taste of surf music that I knowingly received.
For some reason I happened to know that it was surf music, but I wouldn't
have been able to list and band's or songs. After that it was all downhill
from there (but in a good way) I was hooked. I never got the opportunity to
see em live, being underage or without transportation, so I was blown away
when I heard the news that I'd actually get to see SP live. Thanks so much.
