Yet Another MP3 Compilation Update

Brian Neal (xarxas) - 15 Mar 2005 21:20:50

Mike from Russia sent me a scary photo and some descriptions for The
Vivisectors and Bombers tracks.
And M.C. Tippens (is that your rap name?) makes his stunning debut on
the page.
Cool!

Jeez, that is a scary picture next to the Vivasector's cool track. I don't dare
let my cat see it, she has a bad enough time dealing with my photo.

Marty,
I'm listening to your track now. Terrible picture, great song, a
little long, but I like it still! Do you play much bluegrass?
I can hear Nokie Edwards in your playing, a little "Caravan" going
on here huh?
Man, I wish I could play the banjo. As anyone who's hip to the Andy
Griffith show(if that's at all possible) can tell our band likes to
borrow from that show. One thing I always enjoyed was when the
Darlins'(the Dillards in real life) would be on the episode. Doug
was one HELL of a banjo player.

Hey, hey, hey, easy on the photo complements there, Bill ! Thanks for listening
to the track. I play a fair amount of bluegrass banjo and some guitar but the
only performance I do that way is at a couple of local banjo contests. Doug
Dillard is a major influence. Yeah, I guess the decending bits do bring Caravan
to mind.

Good job Marty!
I don't think I've ever heard that tune performed by anything other than
Afro-Cuban bands. I like the refreshing take on that.

I thought I was the only one that enjoyed the Darlin's! I also
really like the one where James Best (dukes of hazzards Roscoe P.
Coltrane) plays the guitar with "Freddy Fleet and his band with a
beat" In the follow-up episode, he plays a jazzmaster or a jag, I
forget which.
Doug may be one HELL of a banjo player, but I bet he can't play
the gas can like Ernest T. Bass!

Yeah man! I loved when the Darlins' were on. "Dooley" was my
favorite of their numbers. You know there's an earlier episode when
some "record executive" comes to town to record Andy's bluegrass
band, it's not the Dillards, but it's Clarence White's Kentucky
Cols. Another great bluegrass band in real life.
James Best, plays Jim Lindsey and you're right again, he plays the
role in two episodes and the 2nd one he's playing a sunburst
Jazzmaster.
Shit I need to go to bed!
