Fender Japan Jaguars

ohsyrus - 20 Aug 2002 16:17:13

I read on another newslist that you can still get re-ish Fender
guitars direct from the Ishibashi corporation that makes Fender Japan
guitars. Apparently they can ship them to your door--and they have a
bunch of cool looking models--Jag included. Some people claim that the
"new" re-issues are now using better hardware than before--in order to
be more competitive with the MIA instruments--since I haven't seen
one--I can't verify this claim. Others have been claiming that the
overall craftsmanship of the neck and body are superior in precision
manufacturing to what Fender America has been churning out. These
claims have largely been made by Europeans that can still buy Fender
Japan Instruments in stores--and are getting the new ones.
Does anybody know the truth to all these claims? If the new Ishibashi
Fender Japan re-issues are as good as the MIA's now, hardware-wise,
and better, neck and body-wise--then its pretty obvious which is the
better deal.

Hello,
I recently acquired a MIJ Jazzmaster, This is a very good guitar at a
very decent price. I don't know about the past, but the hardware is very
good.
I only replaced the Jazz bridge by a Mustang bridge and the only not so
good thing are the MIJ fender "soap-bars" but I hope to replace these
soon by "Seymour-Duncan classics".
Well here in Europe a MIA "Jazzmaster" is over-priced in my opinion.
Last time I saw one it was over $2000 new. The MIA goes for less then
half of it and it's a GOOD guitar.
Their Telecasters are also really good and so are the Jag's.
Well I hope this helps a bit,
Jerry S. from Belgium

Click on the red Fender Japan box.
I'm in the US and I can vouch for Ishibashi. I ordered a 62 Reissue Jazz
bass in Sonic Blue (because Fender America doesn't offer this color) on
Monday (with a credit card) and I had it in my hands on Friday. Quick
response to my e-mails, also. I can say it blows away any American 62
Reissue I've played. I can't say enough good things about it. Alder body and
US pickups for about the same price as the standard American basses let
alone the reissue. And the tone! Wow. There are 2 down sides. Cheap
pickguard and even cheaper gig bag. Pay extra for the hardshell case. It's
well worth it.
Also look at at
E-mail Ishibashi if you're looking for something special. I found out that I
can still get both the Squire Jagmaster and Jazzmaster in Sonic Blue.
Although, I think the Jagmaster might be gone. There were only a few left
when I asked.

Look what Fender Japan is cooking up...Jaguars with humbuckers and hard
tails!
Albatross from the Fender Forum posted this.
I understand it is possible to buy them from outside of Japan if you order
directly from them.
Maybe this will prevent the grunge crowd from carving up Jaguars and
Jazzmasters?

You can order them right now.
Then click on the red "Fender Japan" box the click on "Collectors".
Ishibashi is awesome to deal with. I ordered the 62 Reissue Jazz bass (in
Sonic Blue) on a Monday and I had it in my hands by Friday.
I love the Japanese Fenders more than the American ones.
