bloobeary - 13 Aug 2002 12:35:58

Just wondering if anyone's seen/tried this thing out?
It looks quite portable.

Now this looks cool. It's not on Musicians Friend
yet; I wonder what it actually retails for? I was
about to jump on the Electroharmonix Holy Grail after
all the good things I've heard about it, but this
might be something to consider...for us poor blokes
who want the 'verb.

Hello Richard,
Hmmm...looks good, I especially like the idea of the kick pad (like wipe
out)
Any way, I got the Holy Grail for a few months now and it really sounds
great!
I'm very pleased with this unit since it makes my guitar sounds really
good even on my Sovtek MiG 100. I have put it in line together with a
delay unit and it sound smashing. We did a few gigs with our band and
it's worth every cent.
Well I sure hope the Danelectro Spring King will be available in Europe
too.
I'll think our rhythm guitarist will be very pleased to find out about
this thing.
Cheers,
Jerry S. from Belgium "really pleased with the Holy Grail"

I assume it will be $129 because that is what other Danelectro pedals
that list at $199 cost. I havent seen these yet but I have heard they
are better than the EH Holy Grail and they dont have that Flerb
setting.

I wish I had some place to try all this stuff. Now
I've got questions that can only be answered
hands-on...hmmmm. Can anybody explain exactly what
the "Flerb" setting on the Holy Grail is anyway? I've
read the descriptions and don't quite get their
meaning.

Hello Richard,
The flerb is in fact a Flanger, it sounds not bad and you can alter it's
speed. In fact the Holy Grail is a three in one effect; You get the
Spring Reverb, Hall reverb (like playing in the Notre Dame) and the
"dreamy Flerb" which is a Flanger.
I like the Spring sound a lot since you can alter it's speed. So it
enables you to do Dick Dale stuff or plain Ventures sound and a lot of
other variations.
The "Hall Reverb" sounds quiet cool too; but you should check out
Electro Harmonics web site to hear it, Although the Spring sounds a lot
better in real then on the demo sound. This is played by the guitarist
of "Steely Dan" whoever that might be....
E9F2.0.2255&item=EH%2DHOLYGRAIL&category=eheffects
I hope this gives you an idea of the "Holy Grail" Sound.
Any Way, Electro Harmonics has an excellent customer service. The
answered all my "Holy Grail" questions by e-mail, before I purchased
this item in a store nearby. I got it for $160 and that's here in
Belgium, so I guess in the U.S. they are cheaper.
