I just found this group and would like to introduce myself. I am old
enough to remember the beginings of Surf on the radio. I lived in
the SF Bay Area and was blessed with 3 things. Slim's in Sf, where I
have seen Dick Dale, first tour right after Pulp Fiction, hey Cake
was the second band, Jumbo Shrimp, Pollo del Mar, oh yeah, Phil Dirt
on KFJC with Surf's Up, and the Mermen, I have seen Jim Thomas with
and without hair and saw the last show with the original members,
hey they were about to do a show with Primus at one time, a dream
come true, but ah memories. Well, I live up the coast in Humboldt
County, has the waves, but does not have the sound, bummer. I have a
bunch of CDs and need more. i build guitars and tube amps, and even
though my kids are both in bands, one is into Emo, and the other is
in a self proclaimed Art Thrash band in Bostom, ah youth. I have
built a couple of reverb tanks, I do want to do a twin six spring
with tremolo soon and I will be making a Jaguar clone soon. I real
like Big Reverb with a touch of tremolo. I prefer speedier bands
like the Insect Surfers and Slacktone, and will be visiting Amoeba
Music is SF soon for a restock, any other Bands in that vain, or
does anyone have live tapes of the Mermen as they encouraged taping
their concerts. I play guitar like not rewal well, I finally
mastered Pipeline, as soon as I can find Apache, I was going to
build a tenor, Jag-body guitar complete with whammy bar. Candy Apple
Red with black tuners,knobs, and Mother of Toilet Seat pickguard...
