...and simulated wammy by sliding down a half step, then upstroke up
to the original fret. Took a little while to get it right.
Kinda like the funky chicken grease the funk guys play.
The (my) tele has a ton of sustain, unlike the doink machines.

Very true about your Tele's anti-doink factor. I was just reading the Fender
book by Richard Smith. There is a part in there when they talk about the
Jazzmaster where Leo purposefully designed the bridge for the "doink" factor. He
thought it would appeal to the Jazz and session players he was trying to
attract. It turns out that session players were already keeping a Fender among
their tools and didn't want the Jazzmaster. They didn't have the heart to tell
Leo that they thought his best guitar was the Tele. They used the Tele for their
rock sessions and the big body Gibsons for the jazz sessions.
