Yo! Dudes, Dudettes:
Dan Coleman, Program Director for "Twang Shebang" heard on My Real Broadcast,
wants everyone to know some terrific news:
"Hey all, www.myrealbroadcast.com has finally got the live stream
running right and now you can tune in 24/7 to a great mix of
programming. Plenty of Twang represented here. All past Unsteady
Freddie's Twang Shebang shows are in the rotation!"
The link for Twang Shebang is (note: you may have to copy and paste the URL
address):
Hit the "LIVE" button on the Twang Shebang site to hear the "streaming" .....
NICE GOING DAN!! The "current show" incidentally is a "Special Edition" on
Los Straitjackets -- this will remain the "current show" probably through the
week-end.
Dan Coleman and I are on the verge of taping our next show - that'll be #17 --
and it's gonna be MORE MUSIC than ever. The "format" will be to feature 2 songs
from several bands, including but not limited to,
The Sharkskins, including an interview with group member Dash Rip Rock!
Verbtones
Surf Nations
Django Twango
Diamondheads
Bitch Boys
Les Playboys
Surfonics
Nebulas
Coffin Daggers
Los Derrumbes
Los Straitjackets
Longboard Ranch
Davie Allan & The Arrows
should be a great "show" -- nice mix of goodies.....
#18 is also in the works -- it recaps my recent trip to San Francisco -- with
interviews and music with The Aqua Velvets, Aquamarines, the Tube Sharks' Big
Wave Dave, the Lava Rats, the Mermen, and Phil Dirt (and my live apparance there
on his show at KFJC) -- again, a strong mixture of great bands and good times!!
Thanks to everyone who has tuned in, lent their support, and who surely
understand what Unsteady Freddie, Dan Coleman, My Real Broadcast, and "Twang
Shebang" are about -- simply stated, an alternative, another outlet, where
people can hear some "wet" and "twangy" music. That's all. No ego here,
despite the suggestions otherwise Yeah we post with a lot of enthusiasm, yeah
so what? Because we're fucking excited, OK?. Just tryin' to keep "the twang"
alive, get more exposure for this wondrous music -- thru "Twang Shebang", and
through live shows I have been so blessed to produce in the New York tri-state
area (and West Springfield Virginia too!). We just wanna give something back
to a genre that gives us so much spiritual joy. We hope we are making a
difference, an impact, and getting through to people who are not that familiar
with this amazing music. For instance, when a kid who looked no more than 18
years of age left my February 12th show at MAKOR, he came up to me and
said, "thank you SO MUCH for introducing me to a style of music I DIDN'T EVEN
KNOW EXISTED". Isn't that the point here? And MAKOR has asked me back for May
and June -- dates to be announced here soon; also negotiating with THE CORAL
ROOM at this very moment for a show there next month. Plus--I am starting a
record company - Lifeguard Records -- to get even more entrenched in the
creative process.
I also have some amazing surprises up my sleeve, I just cannot reveal them YET,
but suffice it to say - here are a couple of "clues" (see if you can figure
these out) -- one of them has to do with wearing your pants "baggy" and
"fantastic"; the other, now this is gonna be just some superb reverb -- it's
about one of the guitar legends on the instro genre who has approached Unsteady
Freddie for an interview AND to perform live in the NY area -- here's the clue
for this: let's just say he's looking to be involved in a joint VENTURE with
Unsteady Freddie......hmmmmmm, the mystery, the drama.....
Those that wish to have their music played on the show should send me mp3's one
song per email -- and we will need your permission to your music on 'Twang
Shebang' -- we simply cannot play anything we want, by the way, so the more
artists that contribute, the more diverse the music will be. My email
address? . You can also send your music to me at:
Record Press Inc., 157 Chambers Street, 4th floor, New York, New York, 10007.
Incidentally, Dan Coleman has advised me that all this "chatter" in some of the
Yahoo Groups, (and a great deal of it is abusive, tasteless, mean-spirited,
racist), about me, Dan, the show, etc., has actually dramatically brought many
many more "hits" to "Twang Shebang". So we are most grateful, and we thank you!
As they say, "bad press" is still "press" and we appreciate you keeping us in
your posts, keeping our names out there! First Amendment - say whatever you
wanna say! But you won't find us defending ourselves anymore, b/c, frankly, we
have nothing to apologize for. We're trying our best, our side of the street
is clean......AND WE'RE HAVING A BLAST DOING IT!!! and you know something, WE
HAVEN'T EVEN STARTED!!!!
Thanks for hangin'
Keep on twangin'
