Hello;
Sorry about the terribly shameless promotion, but I just wanted to
tell anybody that's interested that the college where I teach did an
article on me, my band the Madeira and surf music in general. I
think they did a good job, though there are some factual errors, as
I'm sure you will notice (I tried to correct them before they went
to print, but it was futile). Anyway, I hope some of you will enjoy
it. Thanks.
Ivan
Congrats, Ivan! You continue to do amazing things with the instrumental
genres and serve as a role model to all.

Hi Ivan,
It was very cool seeing you guys get some good press and thanks for
plugging the list!
I enjoyed the phrases: "reverb distortion" and "Bent Tornadoes". :)
But not bad for the uninitiated, maybe it will get some people
interested in surf.

Thanks for the heads up, Ivan! Not a bad article, overall, and it plugs
SG101 ;)
Very cool!

Great article!
Austrian Economics. That is very cool. I am somewhat of an amateur economics
buff. Can you believe I earned a degree in economics in the 80s and never heard
of Mises, Hayek or Rothbard the whole time I was in school?
Shameless promotion???? No way!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing. You know I
love the Madeira, so thanks for the updates.

I am with Kristena on this. Hell, it's the main reason I have joined any surf
discussion lists, to hear about what's happening in the surf world? I for one
enjoy all of it! I encourage any self promotion as well as enlightening
subjects/discussions. How else can we learn about each other?
Just my 2 cents.

Good article!
But what is the "marginal propensity to consume" more surf CD's?
Pretty damn high, if you got 700+!

(I have too much time on my hands)
Use the consumption function. Take the derivitive of C with respect to I
{C'(I)}. This represents the rate of change in the individual's
spending as income increases. This is the marginal propensity to
consume. As a model, the rate can be represented by: 0<dC/dI<1.
Ok, I had my fun for the evening.

...so, it seems that you're saying that as my income tends
toward 0+, it is less and less likely that growth/change
rate of my CD collection will ever approach the limit x

that's awesome Ivan, even if it's not 100% on everything, it
definitly caries a 'surf is something special' vibe... a fun read, I
hope it will attract some people to the Madiera.
btw, did you also correct them on the math? 1 month, 24 hrs a day on
700 cd's ~ that about an hour per cd ~ seems like a lot for a surf cd!
see, there's always a reason to by some more cd's ;-)
Wannes
Yeah, do that math. 1 month, 24 hours a day, 700 CD's. Now lets see...how many
seconds are there in a year? I count 12.
