Okay, here is the official announcement.
The Yahoo! Group SurfGuitar101 is proud to announce the first member mp3
compilation. All list members are invited to create a surf or surf
inspired .mp3 for sharing with other list members. All creations will be
placed on the website www.surfguitar101.com for public download.
All list members are eligible. If you are in a band, at least one band
member must be a list member.
Please email all .mp3 files to me using: "brian at surfguitar101.com".
Please keep the .mp3 files under 10 MB in size!
When you send me the mp3, please send along a note describing your
entry. Include any details you'd like: what instruments/gear were used,
who played what, original or cover, how you recorded it, anything else.
This will go on the website too, so you might want to spell/grammar
check this part! If you'd like to send a small photo or logo please do
that as well.
I will start accepting mp3 files immediately, and will end the fun on
May 6, 2005. I will post the mp3's to the website in chunks as I get
them and as I have free time. But they will all be available together
the first part of May.
Several people have asked about artwork. If anyone would like to send me
CD-case style artwork, that would just be icing on the cake. If you
would like to wait until the end so you can see the "track list", then
that is fine also. Just let me know. More than one person is welcome to
do this! The artwork will be available for download as well so you can
make your own CD's.
Remember, this is not a contest, it's just for fun and a chance to share
music with online friends. You can be in a band, not in a band, or any
combination thereof. I am sure all skill levels will be represented! Put
together whatever you like, a song, a song fragment, a riff on a boom
box; feel free to use a drum machine, a friend, your band, or a full
orchestra, or just yourself.
