From what I understand, he has separate cables coming out of each
pickup, some of which lead into different amps.

Life is short. Play for the music. Wear your heart on your sleeve.

Neal,
About 5 years back or more, he used to have 3 cables coming out of
his guitars.
As for effects he's got about 20 pedals and a refrigerator sized
rack mount cabnit full of all kinds of digital effects.
I know that 2 of his pedals are one volume, and another rocker
pedal sends signal to the delays, when he turns it off, the signal is
all dry, no echo, no delay. Personaly I don't like his dry sound,
but he needs to stop all the whirling madness sometimes. It's just
really abrubt when he stops it.
Jeff(bigtikidude)
p.s. Sherm Clow on cowaunga has a web site with a pic of his rack
of effects.

He's probably mixing the two different pickups in stereo for that unique
tone of his. Gibson has made stereo guitars for decades, so nothing new
here.
