Sometimes you experienced players forget about the
"101" part of Surfguitar101. This topic has been
covered ad nauseum on this list, and yes it is best to
try and learn by ear, but the fact is that lots of
people starting out use tabs, and tabs are more useful
for guitar than notation as you can learn the correct
hand positions.

Keep it in perspective, this isn't a major label
release, this is an MP3 project for people on the
list. I would bet that 85% of the listmembers don't
have access to a studio, or even a drummer. This is
about friends sharing their music.
