Re: [SurfGuitar101] Re: Search feature really blows

Marty Tippens (mctippens) - 02 Feb 2005 19:24:56

I think you're exaggerating the shortcomings of the current system, Klas. We now
have record numbers of posts on this list. It seems to be working for most. If
someone wants to be understood in the context of a thread, they reprint the
pertinent part of the previous post to which they are responding. Sure, some in
digest mode aren't in that practice but I most often know what they are
referring to. I haven't seen adverts ruining any posts. I don't want to know
what a sub-forum is, one big forum is fine, I have a delete button. I've had no
trouble with clicking on supplied links, and there's been some great ones
lately. I see too many cutesy symbols and "buttons to push" on the bombora.net
thing to find it atttractive.

Subject: [SurfGuitar101] Re: Search feature really blows
I understand that this might be a sensitive topic but I have trouble
understanding why people are persisting to hang on to these inferior
types of message boards when there are much more functional forums
around these days. I'm not only thinking about the crappy search
function but lots of other annoying stuff like severe difficulties to
follow quotes from earlier posts, incorrectly displayed links,
unability to edit posts, no sub forums, adverts screwing up posts,
etc. etc.
It just doesn't make sense.
