of Eddie"? There's no maybe about it, PJ is the greatest songwriter
in surf (he wrote Squad Car, Mr Moto, Kami Kazi, Vaminos among
several other greats) and plays the most melodic of guitars in a
very original style. Eddie was/is a demon of mediocrate playing the
standard overdone blooze rock guitar riffs through a distortion box
and has never topped Mr. Rebel and his cover verson of Squad Car.

Yeah!!! What Marty said!!!
All I meant was that Eddie Bertrand gets a lot of coverage here,
and Paul gets very little. It's Pauls turn to be the surf hero. I
think because Paul wasn't the "upfront" guy he is often overlooked.
He seems to be soft spoken, and doesn't do a lot of bragging like
some others. He also isn't as "showy" and lets his guitar do the
talking. His playing often is understated, and unless you are
paying attention, his playing can slip by without notice. He
really was the backbone of that sound the Belairs had.
