I don't know that DIck ever said he hates surf guitar, although that may be. I
do know that he doesn't consider his music as "surf music". He apparently wants
it known as "Dick Dale" music. For a while there, he wasn't allowing surf bands
to open for him but that must have limited his bookings so he has softened up.

I bet old DD hits SoCal sometime in July (probably July
4th)and August (the Lobster Festival, Car Show and Swap
Meet season)...
maybe he'll hear down south to Florida and Georgia in late
June.
