With all due respect this has to be one of the more pointless post
I've seen on surfguitar101. You say for surf it really doesn't
matter which gutar you choose. First, I disagree if you are going
for a trad. sound I would say it's very important what guitar you
choose. But, if your going for a more modern sound go ahead play
whatever you want. Secoundly, after you say any guitar is ok as
long as it comes from you heart, you go after the Jaguar. So really
you're contradicting yourself. Replace the pickups on the Jaguar?
Are you nuts? Those are the best pickups Fender designed IMO.
As for your amp recommendation. You say go for a Super Reverb
before a Dual Showman?? Huh? I have a '65 Super Reverb, it's the
holy grail of pre-cbs Fender amps, but it's lousy for surf because
it breaks up too easily. It's also more costly than my bassist's
Dual Showman or my Bandmaster. I think it's easier to carry around
a Bandmaster or Showman just because they come in two parts.
Lugging my Super or a Twin reverb around was murder!
