Re: Need some honest critiquing

royaltoneguitar - 25 Jan 2005 21:01:49

Hmmmm, a chance to be a critic?
Sounds like fun Patrick, thanks for offering it up. And congrats for
stepping out like this with something as creative as a song. (I must
qualify myself as a "cover band" guitarist of late, but I did used
to write over 20 years ago in the Ripp Tides)Check out Phil's Reverb
Central for Ripp Tides critiques. Posting your invite to listen to
your new recording, hopefully will inspire the "creative process" in
myself and others. A good thing...
After one listening, here my thoughts. At first I thought it was too
repetitive with the standard 12 bar blues format, but you were able
to add some drama as the song went on and the little change up near
the end was cool too. This song does seem to beg for the
good 'ol "cha-cha-cha" ending, fairly rare in "surf" music. (I am a
sucker for the cha-cha-cha, others might disagree.) All in all, I
dug it, great energy. 3 out of 5 stars, great start, please write
more.
Looking forward to your next recording, keep 'em cranking.
