I've always thought Neil should do an instro album with the signature sound of
his. I don't know if he ever played in a surf band. I know he was in a band with
the late Rick James as a younster.

A friend told me that Billy Zoom of X used to be in a surf band!
Now Billy is doing punk instros under the band name The Ramonetures.
