Sound of Twin Reverb vs. Showman

bigtikidude - 20 Jun 2002 22:13:45

I think it was brian asking this.
I don't play guitar(that well anyway), But I believe I can say by
seeing probably close to 100 surf bands that a twin kicks ass and
is a great amp, But does not have the Low end umph of a show man.
The 2x12 open back vs. a 2x15 of a seald enclosure makes all the
difference. In home speakers the better ones are usually seald with
no port or hole. The note/notes are more pure, where as a open cabnite
might be a little louder, You loose all the control of the sound
waves. They come bouncing out of the Back and cause weird side
effects. But saying that, If i ever got a Fender amp to fiddle around
with, I'd probably get something like a twin. Unless I came across
a deal like my friend did, where he got a showman head and 2x15 cab
for like $200. What a steal, all he had to do was re-cover the thing
with tolex and new front grill cloth.
Hope that kinda helps,
Jeff(bigtikidude) Dual Showman for Bass for sure!!
