Rick,
This is interesting. One of my favorite guitar players is James
Burton, but he's know for light strings and a totally different
style than surf. If you want to sound like Burton, don't buy his
signature model with the lace sensors, get yourself a 50s reissue.
My Jag feels like a different instrument than my Telecaster, I
couldn't imagine playing the lead to Hello Mary Lou with finger
picks on it. I've never tried anything lighter than 12s on my Jag.
