Re: Deke Dickerson/Untamed Youth

kahunatikiman - 28 Dec 2004 18:44:03

Bill - you gotta go see Deke. If you don't come away jazzed to
learn some new songs, and some new styles of music, I'd be amazed.
His guitar playing is effortless, and he is a true front man in
every sense of the word. Deke makes the transition from his current
music (rockabilly and roots - country) and surf seamless. Both
styles have a lot in common, and I am often amazed that rockabilly
guys and surf guys don't share more common ground. It was the
progression of guitar driven music, after all.
From what I know about Jimmy Sutton, he is old school all the
way, but it would be great to learn from such an amazing talent.
It must feel good to be able to play with him. He may turn you into
a rockabilly cat!
