GraphTech Saddles; was Re: Jazzmaster trem rattle

Gavin Ehringer (windanseabeachboy) - 21 Dec 2004 15:56:46

BN,
As you may recall, I used GraphTechs on my Jaguar; they caused two problems. The
first,
they were a little too small and it made it difficult for me to set up the
string height and
intonation and second, I had some string grounding issues which resulted in
unwanted
noise. I put the two steel center barrels from the Jag back on the bridge, left
the
GraphTechs on the highest and lowest strings. No more problems.
With my Jap Jazzmaster, I went for the BuzzStop. That solved my buzzing problems
completely, and kept the strings reefed down on the barrels so that they never
jumped
ship in mid-bend (not that I am a string bender by nature, favoring the subtle
1/4 tone
bends of the first-wave style of surf).
I prefered the BuzzStop over the GraphTechs, their prices being nearly equal.
