Re: JBL D120F

reverbrob - 21 Oct 2004 14:59:01

A little off the subject, but here's another possibility to hop up a
Twin. I used to use a JBL-130 cabinet with my 65 Showman head until
I heard two different guys playing old silverface Twins that sounded
unbelievably sweet. In both cases it turned out they had swapped
Celestion Vintage 30's into the Twins. I went and got a 2x12 Vintage
30 cabinet and liked it so much that I ditched the JBL cab for lack
of use. And I get people commenting on how good the amp sounds. So
unless someone is specifically looking for that signature JBL tone,
I'd say the Vintage 30's are also worth considering in a Twin.
