With all due respect, there's NO WAY that the guy on the right is
Eddie. Looking through the other photos I have, I'm fairly confident
it's Rob Edwards, playing a Jazzmaster (as he does on the cover of
the CD and - speculating - behind the Rivingtons in the CD liners).
He's tall and thin, unlike Eddie who was tall and 'healthy' (speaking
as a guy who's exceedingly 'healthy', I meant nothing by the 'husky'
description - I thought it was just somebody that's broad-shouldered
and more filled-out, without being fat) .

I really like the site!! Great job.
Here's my few thoughts and additions:
1. concerning Eddie's first (white) Jag: there's a Belairs photo from
mid- to late-62 (with Dick Dodd on drums) in the booklet that came
with the Belairs CD "The Origins of Surf Music 1960-1963" that shows
Eddie with bleached-blonde hair AND a white Jag! It's hard to tell
in the photo, but it appears that Paul is ALSO playing a (dark-
colored) Jag. They may have both bought them as soon as they came
out, but Paul decided he'd rather stick to a Strat.
2. Upon examining all the photos you refer to in both the E&tS CD
and Surfin' Guitars, I would be fairly certain that there's only one
Strat, the sunburst one. It appears black sometimes due to the poor
quality of the photograph.
3. As you point out, the blue Jag on the cover of the CD looks
really iffy. I would bet it's been artifically painted, as the
pickups are also blue! I think it was a B&W photo, that was painted
afterwards. You can see the faces of the soldeirs behind the band,
and they're gray! So, there's a good chance that Eddie is simply
playing his white Jag on that gig. That blue also doesn't look like
any blue that Fender offered on their guitars at the time.
4. Finally, what about the B&W photo on p. 267,where he's holding a
colored Jag of some sort? I think there's a better chance that the
color is sort sort of reddish/purpleish, since that's the color of
the guitar the guy on the left is holding in the photo you were
asking about. If you look closely, you can see the tremolo arm
hanging down from that guitar, and it's certainly a Jag or a
Jazzmaster. If that's actually Eddie in that photo, then the Jag
he's holding is of some kind of reddish/purpleish color. In
addition, compare that photo (the one you posted and asked about) to
the photo on p. 267: it's the same gig! Same background, same amp
setup behind Eddie, same attire.
