Why not try a MIJ Jazzmaster? I purchased one recently and I'm quite
happy with it.
O.K. I admit it is not a Pre CBS or Vintage MIA Jazzmaster, but quite a
good guitar, with possibilities to customize.
All the original parts will fit. And you can replace the Japanese
Soapbars. (In my opinion the only not so good thing about MIJ
Jazzmasters)
I also like Japanese guitars like Ibanez and stuff, but they are not
like Fender guitars.

I've always wanted to get hold of a Jazzmaster, but the reissues are
way too expensive for me, plus that I believe that anything above 1k
$ is exorbitant for a musical instrument, especially when I'm not a
pro.
So, any other good alternatives to a Jazzmaster? For example, I've
come across the Yamaha SGV 800. It's equiped with soapbars, and the
design of the bridge and tremolo are somewhat akin to that of a
Jazzmaster.
